A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jasmine Golden grew up overseas, attending DODDS schools in Germany before earning an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus in Munich. After returning to the United States, Golden continued her studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro while raising two children in Greensboro, where she remains rooted today.
Golden works across a range of mediums, including woodcuts, Sumi ink and archival ink line drawings, etchings, and multi-media processes. While drawn to a primarily black-and-white aesthetic, she often incorporates primary colors to heighten contrast and add new dimensions to her work. This interplay of simplicity and experimentation reflects a continual search for fresh modes of expression.
At the heart of Golden’s practice is the belief that “the best thing about getting lost in art is that you find yourself in new ways.” With a focus on non-traditional and unexpected elements, her work opens pathways for alternative ways of seeing and experiencing. Recurring themes of metamorphosis, duality, and spiritual presence serve as a foundation, creating a body of work that resonates on both visual and contemplative levels.
