John was born in Elon, North Carolina, where his passion for art was formed. Not having the money or support to buy supplies from local craft stores, he was able to utilize leftover materials from his father's home painting service, creating art with whatever he could get his hands on. His first large piece was finished at about 14 years old. Using scrap wood for canvases and his father's left over paint, John's style was created. Regularly he still uses household paints, caulk, sheetrock mud and other home renovation products to create each piece.
John is a self taught abstract expressionist, known for his use of texture and bright colors. His work is thought provoking and inspiring, letting others imaginations interpret the art as they see. Each piece starts from the ground up, crafting his canvases from quality wood first. You will see both acrylics and oils entangled on almost every painting. Paint splatter and bold brush strokes are defining factors of his artwork.
